BEING A PUPIL

AT

ST EDWARD'S

SCHOOL LIFE

The structure of our school week enables boys to enjoy a healthy balance between learning and living, with valuable direction on how best to use recreation time. We ensure a full 24 hours of allocated learning time is provided every week.

PASTORAL CARE

Effective pastoral care is paramount. It is as important as education. In fact, the two are intrinsically linked. Effective pastoral care enables pupils to safely access all aspects of school life and fulfil their God-given potential.

St Edward’s School is a high structure, high nurture provision where effective pastoral care is the responsibility of every member of staff. They understand the importance of co-regulation and being emotionally predictable, resilient, unconditionally ‘available’ and empathic adults with a passion for developing authentic, attuned relationships with the children in their care.

ENRICHMENT

The full curriculum offering is enriched with whole school events, visits from outside speakers, field trips, creative cross-curricular projects, independent living skills and work experience opportunities with the aim of shaping a belief within our pupils that they are and can continue to be valued members of society, who contribute to the greater good.

We seek to immerse them in school life, rich and diverse in classroom-based and experiential learning, each pupil accruing the Cultural Capital that affords them a degree of social mobility.
