Visit to Romsey Town Centre
Today's class visit to Romsey was an enriching and memorable experience as we explored its rich history and cultural significance. At King John’s House, pupils stepped back in time to discover medieval life through its fascinating architecture and historical artefacts. We found out that it’s one of the three UK houses with bone floors made from animals used in tannery. A visit to Romsey Abbey, one of the finest examples of Norman architecture, provided insights into the Abbey's religious and community importance over the centuries. We spent time at the Memorial War Park, reflecting on the sacrifices made by past generations, and followed the Heritage Walk Trail, which guided us by the river Test to Romsey’s streets. This trip offered pupils a unique opportunity to get to know their local area, engage with history, develop observational skills, and deepen their appreciation for local heritage.
