St Edward's School Swimming Gala
A Splash of Success
Watch our Film
This Tuesday, St Edward's School hosted our swimming gala, showcasing our young athletes' exceptional talent and sportsmanship. The event was a resounding success, filled with exciting races, cheering, and a competitive spirit that was truly inspiring.
Our swimmers demonstrated remarkable skill and determination in their races. The gala was a testament to our pupils' strong team spirit and camaraderie. The energy and support from the sidelines created a vibrant atmosphere.
The relay races were exhilarating, as teams worked together; however, there was only victor, Arran. Beyond the competition, the gala was a fun-filled event with plenty of entertainment and activities for everyone to enjoy.
9C Visit the Travel Agents
9C visited travel agencies in Southampton City centre. The trip offered the pupils a hands-on learning experience about travel planning, geography, and the tourism industry. During the visit, pupils were introduced to the role of a travel agent and the processes involved in organising trips, from booking flights and accommodations to creating itineraries.
The travel agents kindly gave us an overview of popular destinations, such as Thailand, Cancun, skiing in the French Alps (no surprise who asked for this destination) and Disneyland Florida types of vacations (such as cultural, adventure, or educational), and how to budget for a trip. Pupils had prepared questions which included, among others, the importance of travel documents like passports and visas and tips on staying safe while travelling.
A highlight of the trip was an interactive activity where pupils participated in mock trip planning, choosing a destination, calculating costs, and deciding on transportation and activities. That gave them practical insight into how travel decisions are made and the factors in creating a successful trip.
The trip helped pupils understand the logistics behind travelling, different types of vacations and potential career opportunities in the tourism industry, and they were all great ambassadors of our school.

Online Safety
During this week's assemblies, the topic of discussion was online shaming and the significance of reaching out to a trusted friend, adult, or a member of the school staff if you witness it or if you are a victim of it. We delved into ways to seek help and emphasised that we are willing to address any concerns brought to our attention, regardless of their scale.
Pupils were informed that they have the option to report any concerns anonymously either through the pupil intranet or by using written notes and dropping them in designated boxes around the school. Additionally, on our school website, there is a "Report Harmful Content" button available at the bottom of every page for seeking advice.
