Say Cheese
Lyburn Cheese Farm
Today, our class had the fantastic opportunity to visit Lyburn Farm, where we met Mike, a successful businessman who produces an impressive two tonnes of cheese every week! Mike shared his inspiring journey, from studying at Sparsholt College to building a thriving cheese-making business.
We then got hands-on experience with the cheese production process, exploring every stage and asking plenty of questions—all of which Mike answered with great enthusiasm. One of the highlights was touching a mouldy cheese (a unique experience!) and, of course, tasting different types of cheese made on the farm. Even those who weren’t keen on cheese gave the smoked variety a try!
We left with full hearts, full stomachs, and plenty of cheese to bring back—marking this as one of the best trips ever, at least for the staff!
St Edward's Vs Clayhill School
St Edward's faced off against Clayhill School in a thrilling football match. Both schools demonstrated impressive sportsmanship, shaking hands and sharing smiles after the whistle blew. It was a game to remember that showcased not just great football, but also the power of school spirit and community coming together from both sides.
Renewable Energy
This term, Lower School have been learning about different sources of renewable energy. Over the past week, classes have been out in the local area to see examples of this in action. We were also on the lookout for electric vehicles, solar panels on houses and any other eco-friendly energy sources. We stopped off at the Eling Tide Mill, Solar Farm in Marchwood and saw the old Oil Refinery in Fawley – an example of non-renewable energy. The excellent pupils represented the school amazingly and showed keen interest in taking their learning outside.
If You Down to the Woods Today
Meanwhile, Eden has been busy capturing incredible footage of wildlife using their remote cameras. Their dedication to documenting nature has provided fascinating insights into local animals' behaviour, showcasing the natural world's beauty.
BTEC Creative Media
This week, both Xander and Charlie were learning about filming on location, set design, sound design and lighting. It was a really good exercise, and some high quality footage was shot today and is ready to be edited for the next lesson.
