Class Trip to Stonehenge

Like any other trip this year, our school trip to Stonehenge was nothing short of an adventure! The day began with excitement as we explored one of the most iconic landmarks in the UK. However, as soon as we arrived, the weather decided to add its twist to the trip – wind, rain, and lots of it! Armed with waterproofs, umbrellas, and plenty of enthusiasm, we braved the downpour and made our way to the site.

Our guide kept our spirits high while indoors at the Exhibition, sharing fascinating facts and stories about the history and mysteries of Stonehenge. Despite the soggy weather, the pupils stayed engaged, and after a visit to the neolithic round houses, we set off once more in the rain for the Stonehenge stones.

Luckily, lunchtime came quickly, and we treated ourselves to hot drinks after this dreadful downpour. After lunch, something magical happened – the sun came out! The transformation was incredible. The grey skies cleared, revealing the stones bathed in sunlight, and we were treated to a breathtaking view of the surrounding Wiltshire landscape. The change in weather brought renewed energy, and we attempted a second visit under clear skies this time.

We came back to school soggy and wet, but this trip reminded us of the resilience of the ancient builders of Stonehenge – and ourselves! Rain or shine, the magic of this historic site shone through.
